Chelsea are ready to table a huge £30 million bid for Everton defender John Stones, according to the Guardian.

The West London club have already made two bids for the defender in which they were failed and now the Blues are confident that their latest bid would be enough to lure him to the Stamford Bridge.

However, the Mirror reported earlier that Toffees would only be willing to listen offers should they meet the 21-year-old’s valuation of £34m but the Premier League champions are confident they can get the deal before the end of the current transfer window.

The Blues have made the Englishman as a direct replacement for John Terry. He is a crucial part of Roberto Martínez’s first team and would be an important player at the Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also said to be interested in the central-defender, with the Mirror reporting that United boss Louis van Gaal has identified Stones to fill in for his defence after missing out on Spaniard Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid. However, the report has suggested that Jose Mourinho’s side are the favourites for his signature.

Chelsea’s transfer rumours are getting more intense now as the west London club will have to secure the defender in a bid to defend their title before the transfer window shouts down.

Stones has made over 50 appearances since joining the Everton from Championship club Barnsley in 2013.
