Report: Man Utd to beat Chelsea for Griezmann’s services

Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their interest to the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann in January, according to The Sunday Express.
The France international has been strongly linked with the Premier League champions but United could benefit from uncertainty surrounding over Jose Mourinho’s future at the west London club.
The 24-year-old attacker has a £57.3m release clause in his current contract with the La Liga outfit and it’s thought that the Red Devils could trigger his release clause as a cheaper alternative than attempting to bring Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale back to Premier League.
Manchester United are now keen to activate Griezmann’s release clause in order to reinforcements an area that has been lacking since Wayne Rooney’s form dipped.
Griezmann has scored 31 goals in 63 appearances for Atletico in all competitions, including six goals in nine games so far this campaign.
