Liverpool target Mario Gomez is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to join Turkish outfit Besiktas, reports Turkish Football.
The Black Eagles are desperate for a new forward after the exit of Demba Ba to Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua and they believe that the Fiorentina forward Gomez is the ideal replacement at Ataturk Olympic Stadium.
The Germany international had been in rumours to be linked with a move to Anfield this summer as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his front-line.
However following the £32.5 million signing of Christian Benteke from Villa earlier this week, a move for Gomez looks uncertain.
Gomez, 30, has had a tough couple of seasons in Italy with Fiorentina as he managed to score only seven goals in 29 league appearances.
