Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract extension that will keep him at Anfield for a further season, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

The Ivorian was expected to leave the Reds next month in search of regular first-team football, but the veteran centre-back has decided to remain with the Merseyside club for yet another season.

Toure, 34, who has made 21 appearances for the Reds in all competitions 2014-15 term and will spend his third season with Liverpool after leaving Manchester City in the summer of 2013.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old fellow defender Andre Wisdom, who plays for West Brom on loan from Liverpool – has signed a four-year contract which expires in 2019.

Wisdom has made 24 Premier League appearances at West Brom this season.
