Man City midfielder Jesus Navas departs

Manchester City have announced the departure of midfielder Jesus Navas after four years in the North-West.

The 31-year-old was one of a number of players who are running out of contract this summer, but it had been reported that he may remain at the Etihad Stadium due to his performance at right-back and further down the flank.

Navas Ready for City Challenge

Manchester City’s latest recruit Jesus Navas has revealed that, although he had other high profile suitors, he had decided on coming to the Etihad in a bid to help the club upset the odds a number of months ago.

Navas has played at Sevilla throughout his professional career but now, after ten years with the La Liga club he has decided that he needs a new challenge to take his game to the next level and, despite apparently having the option to remain in Spain, he was convinced that a £23million move to Manchester was his best bet. “We’ve been talking with Manchester City for four months. The decision is taken,” the 27-year old said. “There had been rumours (about Real Madrid), but Manchester City were in from the start and I had decided some time ago. It’s a good project and it was the moment to make the step.”
