It’s fast approaching 4pm on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd September, you’re facing uncontrollable nerves, and pure excitement at what comes next. Each year the tension grows, but with new managers in Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes, this game is set to be one to remember for decades.
After losing the title on the last day of the previous season, Manchester United were determined to get their hands on the Premier League crown. The fact that they lost the title to their bitter rivals Manchester City hurt them even more. They had done their job, by winning at Sunderland on the final day of the season. As the final whistle blew, they thought they were champions. However, news filtered in that City had scored two goals in stoppage time to steal the title on goal difference. Most teams would never recover from a blow like that, but Manchester United used it as fuel for another title charge.
