Arsenal link with German international?

Arsenal have reportedly begun talks with Valencia over a possible move for Shkodran Mustafi this summer, Sky Sports reports.
The north Londoners are on the lookout for the veteran centre-backs in order to replace Per Mertesacker, who has been sidelines for at least five months after sustaining a knee injury in the 1-1 draw with Lens.
Although, many names – including Semih Kaya and Kalidou Koulibaly, have been linked with a move to the Gunners.
However, Arsene Wegner’s side have now identified the German international as a potential target as they have entered negotiations with the Spanish outfit Valencia.
The report claims that the Premier League giants have not launched a formal bid though they are desperate to lure the 24-year-old defender to Emirates Stadium.
The world cup winner has a release clause of £42.1m, however, the La Liga outfit are ready to accept any offer in the region of £25.3, which makes Mustafi an interesting option for the Gunners.
Mustafi has racked up 28 La Liga appearances last season, besides that he earned 12 Germany caps and one World Cup winners’ medal to his name.
