Liverpool have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan as they look to bolster their squad following the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, according to Eurosport Turkey.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is desperately looking for a world class player following the exit of Suarez and the 27-year-old midfielder has emerged as a transfer target for the Reds this summer, who is reported to be keen on making the move to Anfield.
The Turkish midfielder has established himself as a key player in Atletico’s success last season, helping the club to lift the La Liga title since 1996.
It is understood that Atletico Madrid have recently signed Mario Mandzukic to replace Diego Costa, and are looking forward to strengthen their own squad ahead of next season. Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla is the first choice, but the Spanish side must sell their own players to raise funds for the summer transfer activity.
Turan signed a contract extension with the Spanish champions last season that will keep him at the club until 2017, means his release clause was increased to £32 million, which is quite affordable for the Reds.
