Liverpool are reportedly targeting Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio as they look to strengthen their backline this summer, according to Caught Offside.

Why Inacio Is on Liverpool’s Radar

The departure of Ibrahima Konate has left Arne Slot’s side short of quality cover at centre-back, and the Reds have identified the 24-year-old Portuguese international as a serious target.

Inacio fits the profile perfectly — a left-footed centre-back comfortable on the ball, capable of stepping in at left-back when needed, and still very much in the ascendant phase of his career.

Last season, he delivered a commanding campaign for Sporting, contributing three goals and three assists across 44 appearances while helping his side keep 16 clean sheets. He’s also earned his spot in Portugal’s World Cup squad, underlining his status as one of Europe’s most promising defenders.

The Deal Won’t Come Cheap

Liverpool already have Joe Gomez, Giovanni Leoni, and Jeremy Jacquet in the mix — but they want a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk, and Inacio ticks that box.

The snag? Sporting play hardball. Valued at around £35m and contracted until 2030, the Portuguese club hold all the leverage here.

Inacio isn’t the only name being considered — Murillo, Luka Vuskovic, and Sam Beukema are also on Liverpool’s shortlist.

Inacio has the quality, the age profile, and the technical attributes to thrive at Anfield. If Liverpool can get the deal done at a sensible price, it could prove to be one of the shrewdest pieces of business of the summer window.
