So far, Arsenal appears relatively quiet in this summer transfer market, with only having the acquisition of Petr Cech from Chelsea.

It is understood that, the Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen on a striker and potentially a defensive midfielder.

As per – El Confidencial, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema could be the ideal man for the north Londoners after Wenger made contact with the Frenchman.

The Spanish newspaper claims that the 27-year-old forward did not say “no” to the Arsenal approach despite reports to the contrary coming out of the La Liga giants.

Benzema, who is expected to be in Los Blancos’s first team plans following speculations that Cristiano Ronaldo would be given the No. 9 role at the Bernabeu this season.

However, Gunner’s current forward-line consists of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck but neither of those two couldn’t make much impact into the Premier League defences.

Benzema joined Real Madrid from Lyon in 2009 for a €35m fee and would cost Wenger a similar amount if they were to lure their man to the Emirates.
