Arsenal are reportedly plotting a summer move to sign Liverpool defender Daniel Agger after Thomas Vermaelen joins the La Liga giants Barcelona, according to the Mirror.

Vermaelen, 28, joined the Catalan giants on a five-year deal believed to be in the region of £15million and the Emirates boss Arsene Wenger will now use those money to draft in a replacement ahead of new season.

The report claims that Wenger has been heavily linked with a move for Agger for some time, who is desperately looking for an another club after struggling for regular first-team at Anfield - especially  following the arrival of Dejan Lovren from Southampton.
